A RECESS WAS CALLED AT 1:08 PM AND UPON RECONVENING AT 1:50 PM COUNCIL MEMBER DELGADO WAS ABSENT AND COUNCIL MEMBER BOBZIEN WAS REMOTE.

Erik Jimenez, Reno Access Advisory Committee Chair, gave the presentation and answered questions from Council Members. This resolution would not take away training wages but is meant to start ensuring that people have competitive, integrated employment skills later on.

Public comment:

Alex Goff (online public comment and did not wish to speak) submitted a statement in support of the item.

Melanie Denning, speaking on behalf of High Sierra Industries, discussed the number of people that are working at below sub-minimum wage and stated that it is a tool for teaching basic skills.

It was moved by Council Member Brekhus, seconded by Council Member Duerr, to direct staff to prepare a resolution for Council's consideration by the first meeting in February regarding the prohibition of the payment of sub-minimum wages for persons with disabilities in all contracts to which the City of Reno is a party.

Motion carried unanimously.
