Summary: The Greater Nevada Field Annual Report for 2017 is presented as an information item for Council. The purpose of the report is to provide Council, and the public, with information about the operations of the Greater Nevada Field Stadium in 2017. The report is prepared and presented by SK Baseball Holdings, dba Reno Aces.

Background:  In 2013, the City Council established the following process for an annual report on the operations of the Aces Baseball Stadium:

1. On or before the first regularly scheduled City Council meeting in December of each year, SK Baseball and/or Nevada Lands LLC (Baseball) will prepare a report on the operations and activities of the Aces Baseball Stadium for that calendar year;

2. Once received by City staff, the report will be placed on the City Council agenda for presentation and discussion;

3. Each year the City and Baseball will determine what items are to be included in the ensuing annual report. The first annual report to be presented on or before December 2013 will include, at a minimum, information on the following items:

a.              Annual attendance for the calendar year and a discussion of historical attendance patterns;

b.              Number of employees and payroll associated with the operation of the stadium;

c.              Sales tax revenues generated in the Tourism Improvement District (Freight House District);

d.              Construction and business license activity and property values in the Reno Ballpark District (i.e., RDA sub district);

e.              Status of debt payments and any refinancing activities;

f.              Physical condition of the stadium including improvements or major maintenance completed, planned or deferred;

g.              Non-baseball activities or events that occurred or are scheduled to occur in the stadium or on the stadium property including a description of the scale and nature of the events;

h.              Any community supporting activities provided by Baseball;

i.    Update on AAA Baseball League status, trends and/or directions.

On January 11, 2017, Council approved the revision of item 3 above allow future presentations occur annually at the first meeting in January.

Discussion: Representatives of the Reno Aces will present the 2017 Annual Report and be available to answer questions at the public meeting. Council is asked to accept the report and determine if additional information is desired in the 2018 Annual Report.

Financial Implications:  None at this time.
