Summary: The Center For Healthy Aging requested funding from the City of Reno Senior Citizen Advisory Committee (SCAC) at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 12, 2017, and SCAC approved the requested funding. The funding request will be used to help provide a luncheon on November 29, 2017 for those who provide caregiving to seniors in the communityStaff recommends Council adoption of the attached resolution donating $500 to the Center For Healthy Aging to this luncheon

Discussion: The Center For Healthy Aging provides short term services to seniors that allow them to live independently.  Services that are provided include personal care assistance, transportation, appliances, modifications to their homes, medication dispensers and caregiver respite.  These services are provided after a hospitalization, injury, or other traumatic event and allow seniors to remain in their home.  The SCAC unanimously agreed to support the funding request and recommends City Council’s approval as submitted.

Financial Implications:  SCAC received a total appropriation of $43,500 in Fiscal Year (FY) 17/18 budget to promote initiatives that support the City Council Priorities.  There are sufficient funds to donate the sum of $500 to the Center For Healthy Aging.
