Recommendation and Proposed Motion

Recommendation:  Staff recommends Council approval of the Interlocal Agreement with the Regional Transportation Commission for reimbursement for time spent on the 2018 Regional Traffic Signal Timing Project in an amount not to exceed $50,000 and authorization for the Mayor to sign.

 

Proposed Motion:  I move to approve staff recommendation.

Summary: Before Council is an interlocal agreement which allows for reimbursement of City staff time spent on the upcoming 2018 Regional Traffic Signal Timing Project in an amount not to exceed $50,000.  Staff time will be spent on development, review, input and fine tuning of new timing plans for various corridors within the City.  Staff recommends Council approve the Interlocal Agreement with the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) for reimbursement of staff time in an amount not to exceed $50,000. 

 

Discussion:  City staff will be working with RTC staff to identify signalized corridors to be included within the upcoming 2018 Regional Traffic Signal Timing Project.  The project will provide updated signal coordination timing plans for several corridors within the City, not to exceed 100 traffic signalsThe work performed by City staff will be paid by the RTC using federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. The project schedule runs from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.

 

Financial Implications:  This agreement allows the RTC to reimburse the City of Reno for staff time spent on the signal timing project in an amount not to exceed $50,000.

 

Legal Implications: The agreement provides for City staff to work with RTC staff on the 2018 Regional Traffic Signal Timing Project and be reimbursed up to $50,000 for City staff time.
