Recommendation and Proposed Motion

Recommendation:  Staff recommends City Council approve the use of the National Purchasing Partners, LLC Contract #00000168 for the purchase of fire turnouts and fire related equipment from Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. in accordance with NRS 332.195, in an amount not to exceed $450,000, and authorize the Fire Chief to execute the necessary purchase orders.

Summary: Staff recommends City Council approval to utilize the National Purchasing Partners, LLC Contract #00000168 with Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. for the purchase of fire turnouts and fire related equipment in an amount not to exceed $450,000 pursuant to the joinder provisions of NRS 332.195.  This will allow City fire turnouts and fire related equipment purchases to be completed in an efficient manner and in compliance with the City Purchasing Policy. 

 

Discussion:  Staff has identified a contract through National Purchasing Partners, LLC for fire turnouts and fire related equipment.  The contract is between Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. (MES) and the National Purchasing Partners, LLC, which expires May 28, 2020.

 

MES specializes in sales, service and leasing of breathing air products, protective clothing, personal protective equipment, thermal imaging cameras, ventilating blowers, suppression solutions and loose equipment.

 

Municipal Emergency Services Inc. has quickly grown to be the largest supplier of the most trusted brands in the fire industry.  MES is dedicated to assure that customers are purchasing quality name brand equipment that remains functioning to the appropriate NFPA and manufacture’s specifications.

 

Financial Implications:  Fire turnouts and fire related equipment will be expensed in accordance with the Fire Department budget approved by the City Council for Fiscal Year (FY) 17/18.

 

Legal Implications:  The City’s participation in the National Purchasing Partners, LLC Contract #00000168 is in conformance with the City Purchasing Policy and NRS 332.195, allowing for local governments to use the joinder provision of contracts from other government agencies within or outside the State of Nevada with the authorization of the contracting vendor.
