Recommendation:  Staff recommends that the Mayor and Council make the necessary appointment as noted in the staff report.


Proposed Motion:  I move to appoint ______ to the Access Advisory Committee.

Staff Report Formal Body

Summary:  There are currently two vacancies on the Access Advisory Committee (ACC).  We have received one application from Jack Mayes.  The term of appointment is for the period September 13, 2017 through August 31, 2020.


The ACC recommends the appointment of Jack Mayes.


Background:  The ACC consists of nine members and shall include disabled persons and persons interested in issues involving disabled individuals.  Committee members are to be appointed by the City Council, and members shall not serve more than two terms.  Pursuant to RMC 2.08.880, the ACC may submit a list of potential members to the Council for appointment to fill a vacancy.  Appointments to vacancies other than expiration of a term shall be for the remainder of the term and filled within 30 days of the vacancy.


Method of Appointment:  Appointed by City Council.


Financial Implications:  None at this time.


Legal Implications:  Nevada Open Meeting Law requirements apply to any committee appointed by the Council.
