Recommendation and Proposed Motion

Recommendation:  Staff recommends that the Mayor and Council make the necessary appointments as noted in the staff report.

 

Proposed Motion:  I move to appoint _____ to the Access Advisory Committee for the term of December 1, 2017 through November 30, 2020 and/or to appoint ____ to the Access Advisory Committee for the term of December 1, 2017 through June 17, 2018 (to fill an unexpired term).

Summary: There are currently two vacancies on the Access Advisory Committee (ACC).  We have received two applications from Pulkit Agrawal and Courtney McKimmey.  The period of appointment for one of the positions is December 1, 2017 through November 30, 2020.  The period of appointment for the other position is December 1, 2017 through June 17, 2018 (to fill an unexpired term).

 

Background: The ACC consists of nine members and shall include disabled persons and persons interested in issues involving disabled individuals.  Committee members are to be appointed by the City Council, and members shall not serve more than two terms.  Pursuant to RMC 2.08.880, the ACC may submit a list of potential members to the Council for appointment to fill a vacancy.  Appointments to vacancies other than expiration of a term shall be for the remainder of the term and filled within 30 days of the vacancy.

 

Method of Appointment:  Appointed by City Council.

 

Financial Implications:  None at this time.

 

Legal Implications:  Nevada Open Meeting Law requirements apply to any committee appointed by the Council.
