Recommendation:  Staff recommends Council acceptance of the $1,000 donation from the Robert and Dixie Bradshaw Family Trust to support City of Reno homeless housing services and assistance efforts.

Proposed Motion:  I move to approve staff recommendation.

Staff Report Formal Body

Summary: The Robert and Dixie Bradshaw Family Trust have donated $1,000 to support City of Reno homeless housing services and assistance efforts.  Staff recommends Council accept the donation from the Robert and Dixie Bradshaw Family Trust in the amount of $1,000.

Discussion: On September 14, 2017, our community, friends, and family sadly lost our former Police Chief Robert V. Bradshaw. In October 2017, his family held a Celebration of Life at the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Center and his family made a donation to the City of Reno to be utilized for a community program as the City Council deems appropriate. Therefore, Mayor Hillary Schieve would like to accept this donation to support City of Reno homeless housing services and assistance efforts.

Financial Implications:  The funds will be restricted for the purpose in which they are deemed appropriate.

Legal Implications:  Legal review completed for compliance with City procedures and Nevada Law. NRS 268.008(6) provides that the city may "Receive bequests, devises, gifts and donations of all kinds of property wherever situated in fee simple, in trust or otherwise, for charitable or other purposes and do anything necessary to carry out the purposes of such bequests, devises, gifts and donations with full power to manage, sell, lease or otherwise dispose of such property in accordance with the terms of such bequest, devise, gift or donation."
