Recommendation and Proposed Motion

Recommendation:  Staff recommends Council approval of the 2016 Annual Operating Plan between the City of Reno and the City of Sparks, and authorize the Mayor to sign.

 

Proposed Motion:  I move to approve staff recommendation.

Summary:  This Annual Operating Plan (AOP) is for the Cooperative Agreement entered into on June 27, 2012, and reflects the manner in which the cooperative fire protection is carried out during fire emergencies involving the City of Reno Fire Department and the City of Sparks Fire Department.  This annual operating plan replaces the AOP adopted by Council on June 27, 2012. Staff recommends Council approval of the plan.

 

Previous Council Action: 

June 27, 2012 – City Council Approval of the Annual Operating Plan and Cooperative Agreement between the City of Reno Fire Department and the City of Sparks Fire Department. 

 

Discussion:  This annual plan outlines common expectations, operating protocols, reimbursement rates and automatic aid parameters during fire emergencies involving the City of Reno Fire Department and the City of Sparks Fire Department in furtherance of the Cooperative Agreement previously approved by City Council.

 

Financial Implications:  This plan sets the rates in regard to billings and allows for assistance for 12 hours without reimbursement to incidents inside the jurisdictions of the City of Reno and the City of Sparks.

 

Legal Implications:  This Annual Operating Plan is entered into in accordance with applicable law and is a binding agreement.
